🌈 GB Meet – 14th September | Anniversary Month Special 🌈

September is always a special month for Gay Bombay – it’s our Anniversary Month! And to mark the occasion, we take you back, as we do every month, to our roots with the quintessential GB Meets that have always been the heartbeat of our community.

I’ve been part of GB since 1998, when everything was on Yahoo groups. I still remember my very first GB meet – around 15 of us, celebrating our first 100 members. That day felt like coming home. Until then, I had always felt like a fish out of water in a straight world, but at that meet, for the first time, I found solace, understanding, and friendship. I met people who remain lifelong friends. I found a safe space to speak openly about alienation, prejudice, bullying, breakups, and family struggles.

Those early meets shaped the very soul of GB. From McDonald’s to cafes and restaurants (even when we were asked to leave), to homes generously opened up by allies and members, our meets have always been about warmth, sharing, and belonging. They continue to be spaces where people from all walks of life come together, talk, laugh, discuss, and grow.
