‘Oh ! I can write it,’ I uttered, as the host asked, ‘who wants to write a review/ report of the meeting?’

This is the Gay Bombay Sunday meet that I’m talking about, happening after couple of years. And first one that I am a part of 🙂

I got to know about it from Gay Bombay Instagram. And on the Sunday evening, all Attendees including me gathered at the meeting spot, and soon Harpreet & Anand ( who were hosting the meet) introduced themselves and we made way to their house after a short wait to make sure no one’s left behind.

Soon enough we settled in a comfortable living room, and the agenda started off with quick introduction of everyone, including Hosts mum and sister.

The crowd included an actor, young professionals across industries, HR ally of the community, friends among others.

The room was ripe for the discussion , and so did it start. people sharing stories, experiences that they might not share openly elsewhere. And others supporting by adding inputs , weighing in with their own opinions . Of what followed was enriching discussion , touching the topics of personal experiences, coming out stories, Safety – whether it’s online / apps or in general and the redressal mechanisms at disposal and so on. and of course, friendly banter and chit chats, while we were munching on hot samosas brought in by hosts family.

It was a great chance and a change to meet people in person at a relaxed setting, sharing stories, seeking connection, which are not a commonplace in the community ‘where we live’.

Kudos for the safe space created with great intentions and the initiative to get community together…. And to see where we are at, what do we need, how happy we are with order of things in general.

The meet came to end eventually and we all shook hands. exchanged smiles, hugs & some numbers 😉 took group picture and finally dispersed into the rainy monsoon Mumbai night.

Looking forward to connecting again and contributing.
