16th April, 2017: GB Celebrates Easter with a very special history tour of Elephanta

This Easter Sunday, join GB as we go on a history tour of the Elephanta Caves under the guidance of our very own Oxford Don, Shailen Bhandare.

This trip will have all the fun elements of a picnic, with some intellectual stimulation thrown in. Shailen took us on a tour of the Kanheri Caves some years ago and those who were in attendance still talk of it as a memorable event. This time too, in his inimitable showman-scholar style, Shailen will explain the history of Elephanta as it relates to the history of Mumbai.

After the tour of the caves, we plan to have an extended lunch on the island and then make our way back to the city. This will be a pay-as-you-go event, with the main expenses being tickets for the boat ride to Elephanta and lunch.

So mark the date and keep yourself free for this very special event!

Date: Sunday, 16 April 2017

Time: 7:30 am. Board the 8:00am ferry to Elephanta.

Meeting point: The Gateway of India, Apollo Bunder, near the Elephanta ferry ticket counter.
