Addressing the Mistreatment of LGBT Students in the U.S. Public
and Private Schools
The persistent mistreatment of lesbian,
gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) students in the U.S. public and private
schools is one of the major unresolved issues facing educators today. This Web
site is designed to provide UCLA students (and other interested parties) who are
seeking to identify strategies for the resolution of this problem with basic
information and foundational resources at the intersection of law and
educational policy.

Camp Lavender
Hill
We offer a week-long summer camp for children of lesbian,
gay, bisexual and transgender families. Our goal is to create a safe and
supportive environment for children of alternative families ages 7-14.
Children, adolescents and young people of all ages have a strong need for
acceptance, validation and a sense of belonging. By providing these children
with an alternative to traditional summer camp, Camp Lavender Hill offers them
the opportunity to enhance self-esteem in a place where differences and

CondomHall: CondomHall is a student volunteer organization dedicated to students and their sexual health. We provide condoms and condom advice/education all year long (summer too). There are even ways to get free condoms. Our safer sex mission is to help prevent unwanted pregnancies, the spread of AIDS, and other Sexually Transmitted Diseases among the student community. Gay and Lesbian Helpline
The Gay and Lesbian
Helpline provides free confidential information, referrals, crisis intervention,
and support to callers seven evenings a week. Typical topics include safer sex,
coming out, and where to find gay-friendly businesses in the Boston area. Call

The Peer Listening Line provides an anonymous and confidential forum
where young people can get help, information, referrals, and support for a range
of issues. Young people up to about 23 years of age can talk to a peer without
being judged or rushed into any decision they are not prepared to make. Issues
include sexuality and safer sex practices, coming out, HIV and AIDS, depression
and suicide, and anti-gay/lesbian harassment and violence. Call 617-267-2535, or

OutProud!: The National Coalition for Gay, Lesbian & Bisexual Youth serves the needs of these young men and women by providing advocacy, information, resources, and support. The Trevor project is a nonprofit endeavor created by the makers of TREVOR to promote tolerance for gay and questioning youth, and to aid in suicide prevention among that group. YoungGayAmerica is a long-term research
project/road trip adventure dedicated to improving the lives of LGBTQ youth. We
aim to educate and inform LGBTQ youth about their importance in society by
placing their individual stories in an international forum; to foster and
encourage the exchange of ideas by queer youth on issues pertinent to queer
youth (to allow their voices to be heard); and to promote positive self-image
and sense of belonging.
